The African Women Association Hungary is a support group for Women and Girls in Hungary. A platform for women to express, empower, upgrade and share with other women for the sake of creating an inclusive society.

About Us
Ours is an organization by women, for women. It is created to give a platform and a voice for women to
express
themselves physically, intellectually, spiritually, mentally and otherwise to impact on themselves and
those around them. We meet the empowerment, community, integration and inclusion needs of women and other
marginalized or vulnerable groups in the host community. The organization was inaugurated in 2019 and
became officially registered in 2022.
Our vision is to create a community where gender is not an obstacle, but a resource.
The Association’s mission is to liberate women from marginal thinking and inspire them to dream and
strive to change their communities by giving them the tools to achieve their goals.
We aim to create a more inclusive and equitable society where women are not isolated but rather fully
integrated and actively contribute in their communities.
The main goals of the association are:

Gender equality
Promote gender equality in social spaces.

Marginalization help
Deal with issues of marginalization wherever we find them in our communities.

Protection
Provide vulnerable groups with protection against exploitation and abuse.

Development
Provide workshops, seminars and skill development through programs to free women from the socio- psychological shackles of marginalization.

Stepping out from victim box
Encouraging freedom from victimhood and using volunteerism as a tool to help women step out of the victim box and become social actors.

Wealth
Educating women about wealth creation, stabilization and political participation.

Balanced society
recognizing that women are not isolated species, we strive to support a balanced society where everyone is free from discrimination.

Migrant socialization
We enable migrants socializations in the values of the host community.

As an active member I really like to work with the association. It has brought me closer to our community. I have enjoyed networking and building friendships with ladies I met in the events.
Tassa Varga
I was invited to the end of year celebration by a good friend to the African Women's Association Hungary and I was not sure what to expect as an African American. I brought my mother visiting from California and my 8 year old son. I was immediately invited to the table to discuss the objectives and concerns and for the first time in 10 years of being here in Budapest, I finally felt like I had a community. My son played happily with the other children in the outdoor room while issues were addressed, my mother and I were warmly welcomed and then we had amazing food by Oliviks Kitchen. It was a great experience and everyone was so welcoming in a place where we don't always have a seat at the table. I am grateful for the dynamic women who have created this safe and amazing space for resources and community when one feels sometimes tetherless in a new land. Thank you.
